IMP Core Facilities for Metal Physics and Nanomaterials
IMP Core Facilities for Metal Physics and Nanomaterials Characterization provide access to advanced experimental facilities of the G. V. Kurdyumov Institute for Metal Physics of NAS of Ukraine. The facility profile covers nanoscale surface characterization, scanning probe microscopy, resonance spectroscopy, magnetic and thermal analysis, and mechanical testing of metallic materials, nanomaterials, thin films, interfaces and functional material systems. The first core provider in this profile is the SPM&RS Center — Center for Scanning Probe Microscopy and Resonance Spectroscopy — which supports research in surface and interface physicochemical properties, nanomaterials and metal-oxide nanosystems.
Hosting partner: Kurdyumov Institute for Metal Physics
Facility type: Core facility
Current status: Operational access node
Typical users
Typical users include researchers, engineers, PhD students and project teams working in metal physics, physical materials science, nanomaterials, thin films, surface science, interface studies, magnetic materials, functional oxides, semiconductor-related materials and advanced structural materials. The facility is relevant for users who need experimental characterization of surface morphology, atomic and electronic structure, local surface properties, magnetic and resonance properties, thermal behaviour or mechanical performance of materials.
Data outputs
Typical data outputs may include microscopy images, surface topography maps, local spectroscopy curves, tunnelling spectra, atomic force microscopy data, XPS spectra, NMR and EPR spectra, magnetic hysteresis data, thermal analysis curves, mechanical testing curves, processed plots, parameter tables and short technical measurement reports. Depending on the selected method, outputs may describe surface morphology, atomic and electronic structure, work function distribution, current-voltage characteristics, surface conductivity, chemical state, phase behaviour, magnetic properties, thermal transitions or mechanical parameters.
Access notes
Access is provided on request and should be agreed with the responsible laboratory or core facility contact before measurements. Users are expected to describe the research task, sample type, required method, expected outputs, sample preparation status and any safety or confidentiality restrictions. The measurement plan, available time slots, sample handling conditions, data format and acknowledgement rules should be agreed before the work starts. At this stage, the facility profile should be treated as a coordinated access point to IMP core facilities rather than as a fully automated online booking system. For SPM&RS Center, the public registry indicates that remote online ordering and remote online execution of studies are not available.
