The goal of the digital RI is to provide Ukrainian materials science groups with managed access to digital services for computational modeling, data analysis, FAIR publication of results, and reproducible research.

This does not mean that all groups should work the same or submit their data to one center. On the contrary, the consortium model allows for the preservation of the diversity of scientific directions and technical approaches. But it creates common minimum rules: how to describe data, how to document workflow, how to formalize results, how to provide access to services, how to support users, and how to present the infrastructure to the outside world.

In practical terms, the goal is that each interested laboratory or group can get answers to a few simple questions:

where to run or test a computational workflow;

how to properly save calculation results;

what metadata is needed for a dataset;

how to obtain a DOI for a dataset;

how to link data, code, calculation, and publication;

how to prepare a use case for an international project;

how to present your competence in the CI catalog;

how to join RIFF, EOSC or Horizon Europe through the infrastructure framework.
